THF members Clarion, Pollard Thomas Edwards and Cambridge City Council are involved in the project
Work is set to start on new homes which will form part of a sustainable new community near Cherry Hinton in Cambridge.
Planning has been approved for 351 homes that will provide the first phase of the 1,200-home Springstead Village development.
The new neighbourhood is a collaboration between Latimer, the development arm of THF member Clarion Housing Group, and housebuilders Bellway. Fellow THF member Pollard Thomas Edwards has provided architect/design services.
Plans for the first residential phase of the scheme were approved at a meeting of the Joint Development Control Committee of THF member Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council.
The first homes to be built will be one and two-bedroom apartments and maisonettes, and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
Richard Cook, Group Development Director of Clarion Housing Group, said: “Springstead Village is an exemplar project which will provide new infrastructure facilities, public green space and of course vital homes for local people – including 40 per cent affordable housing.”
Outline planning consent for 1,200 homes at Springstead Village was granted in December 2020 and work is progressing on a complex of show homes approved under a separate planning application.
The development is planned to launch and open to visitors in September this year.
