It was fantastic to visit Sandwell Council’s rooftop developments at the Lion Farm Estate on 05/06/2025, a truly innovative approach to urban regeneration delivered in partnership with Lovell Partnerships Ltd. The project showcased the transformation of three-storey council blocks—now enhanced with insulation, cladding, and new lifts.
A remarkable feat of retrofit engineering, these buildings have gained an entirely new storey, providing 20 additional council flats. This type of scheme demonstrates the potential for increasing density and delivering much-needed homes within existing towns and cities, while revitalising older structures.
