Regeneration has played an exceptional part in delivering high quality retirement living in Greater Manchester.

Delegates from across the housing supply chain and local authorities joined Northwards Housing and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group for a Regional Retirement Forum which explained how the two organisations have turned around empty tower blocks in to successful extra care communities refurbished to high space, energy efficiency and environmental standards.

Whitebeck Court (Northwards) at one time considered for demolition is now in high demand for mixed extra care use.

Village 135 (Wythenshawe Community Housing Group) offers 2 bed room apartments extra care for sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. It is remodelled from two residential tower blocks joined by a glazed first floor connecting bridge with alight and open central community hub.

The Forum also heard the latest findings from the RIBA’s report ‘Age Friendly Housing’
