The UK faces a critical homelessness crisis, with temporary accommodation use escalating, placing a heavy financial strain on local councils and creating dire circumstances for those experiencing homelessness.

At our National Conference on 22 October 2024, we held a session on ‘Cross-sector solutions to homelessness and temporary accommodation’ in which our panel discussed the failings of the current system, revealing its devastating consequences, and explores potential solutions for immediate relief and long-term change.

Our panelists:

  • Rory Lowings – Solohaus Project Manager, Hill Group
  • Sophie Boobis – Head of Policy and Research, Homeless Link
  • Councillor Elizabeth Campbell – Leader of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
  • Naomi Morris – Senior Manager, Birmingham City Council

Chaired by:

  • Lord Richard Best
