The Housing Forum is a national network of organisations involved in the commissioning, design and building of affordable homes.

We have welcomed the opportunities for local councils to become direct providers of new homes and as The Housing Forum is committed to collaboration and sharing of best practice, we are working with Foot Anstey to develop a programme of practical guidance for local councils setting out to build.

The Housing Forum’s purpose is to encourage supply and improve quality through partnership working and it considers local council housebuilding as fundamental to growth in housing supply.

These practitioner panels draw on the experience of a range of specialist Housing Forum members in areas of viability, procurement, quality and MMC and support the exchange of knowledge among local councils.

Our plan is to provide a practical understanding of issues and stages in housing construction and development in your local market area.

Topics we will explore include:

  • viability assessments,
  • procurement options,
  • design quality and construction quality.
  • options and choices in development services
  • land valuation

This event is free of charge and open to local authorities and members of The Housing Forum.
