Our Aims and Aspirations
About Us
The Housing Forum represents all organisations involved in the building and maintenance of housing. As a cross-sector membership body, The Housing Forum brings all parties together to demonstrate practical, industry – informed proposals to raise the quality and quantity of homes. We aim over the next 3 years, to increase our influence with Government on behalf of all organisations working in housing, to widen our cross - industry reach to include local councils and utilities companies and to demonstrate innovation in both new and existing housing.
Our Aims and Aspirations
Build Strategic Leadership and Influence with Government and Regulators
WE do this by working with key officials in the department of Communities and Local Government and Business Industry and Skills and by our on–going series of Working groups and published studies on the housing industry which include government and Homes and Communities Agency observers, Our regular events feature keynote presentations from senior HCA speakers
Promote the Housing Industry as an Aid to Sustainability, Economic Growth and the Improvement of the Existing Housing Stock.
WE do this by providing expert guidance on the organisation of investment in sustainability –see Routes to Community Level Retrofit- and by our on-going programme of Housing Forum Demonstration Projects which examine process, finance and resident reaction in addition to technical approaches. We organise seminars for the sharing of skills and understanding in our Skills Summit series on “Asset Management in the Existing Stock”
Promote the Industry’s Perspective on Local Housing Markets
WE do this by monthly Round Table workshops on the current issues underpinning local housing markets which bring public and private housing organisations sector together
Target Membership Growth to Increase Membership Participating in Key Sectors
WE do this by organising workshops for local councils and potential developers, by bringing housing providers and major suppliers and manufacturers together and forging high quality analysis across the entire housing sector.

The main event in our year brings together 200 senior housing figures for high quality presentations and debates- 26th April 2012
Networking conferences
4 events to gain information and share knowledge with others – South East, in July, Northern in September, South West 16th November, Midlands and East 10th February 2012
Regional Leaders Workshops
Monthly round table discussions on critical local issues in housing – at Sheffield, Winchester, Birmingham, Newcastle-upon –Tyne, Hertfordshire, Norwich, North West Kent, and Oxford
Skills Summits
Cross industry shared examination by senior specialists on existing stock and Asset Management - monthly series in London
Working Groups
Running on a series of topics including “At the Heart is Housing “, and “Innovation in Housing Construction”. Cross industry examination and research on issues followed by publication and launch of results.
Demonstration Projects
Innovative approaches to construction and refurbishment which can demonstrate achievement in quality of construction, in process and approach and in sustainable solutions. Demonstration projects are supported and promoted through Demonstration Project Fairs and on our web site.
Industry Awareness
Practical examination of construction schemed by site of factory visit- includes Passivhaus, ICI Paints, Kings Cross , Extra Care Schemes
